Find Coweta County Inmates

Coweta County inmate search starts with the county jail roster and sheriff custody channels, then moves to state or notification tools when a person is no longer in local custody. A Coweta County jail roster search may show current inmate data, arrest date, charge labels, court date, bond amount, and release-related fields when available. Jail records are not the same as full court records. They help identify custody status, while the filed charges and final outcome must be verified with the appropriate court or clerk.

Coweta County Jail Roster Search

The Coweta County Sheriff's Office operates from 560 Greison Trail in Newnan and publishes jail-related public information through official county pages and the Police-to-Citizen portal. The Georgia Department of Corrections county jail listing identifies Coweta County Jail at the same address and lists 770-253-1664 as the primary jail phone. Sheriff Lenn Wood is identified in current official materials as Coweta County Sheriff. For local custody, start with the county P2C inmate catalog and jail phone channel.

The jail roster is a custody record, not a court docket. Georgia law requires sheriffs to keep records of persons committed to county jail, including name, age, sex, race, process, issuing court, charged crime, commitment date, discharge date, discharge order, and issuing court. The court case may later show a more complete picture of charges, motions, plea, disposition, and sentence. For a warrant that led to custody, use the jail roster for booking status and the Coweta County warrant search channels for warrant confirmation.

Use Coweta County Inmate Catalog

The Police-to-Citizen inmate catalog is the main county online inmate search channel. The researched API criteria confirmed search options for Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, Age, Charge, Arrest Date, Race, and Sex. Race dropdown values include Black, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian or Pacific Islander, Unknown, White or Hispanic, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, and Other. Sex dropdown values include Male, Female, and Unknown.

  1. Open the Coweta County Sheriff's Office Police-to-Citizen Inmates Catalog.
  2. Search by last name first, then add first name or middle name if results are broad.
  3. Use charge, arrest date, race, sex, or age only when those facts are already known.
  4. Review the profile fields for custody date, court date, charge, and bond information.
  5. Call the jail if the online roster is unclear, missing, or inconsistent with court information.

Note: The Tyler court search and P2C inmate search are separate systems, so a jail result may not match a court docket instantly.

Coweta County Inmate Profile Fields

An inmate profile can mix custody details, charge references, court timing, and bond information. Use the profile as a snapshot. A charge label in jail data may later differ from the filed court charge because the prosecutor can amend or replace charges after arrest. The complete charge path belongs with the Coweta County arrest records and court charges record.

Coweta County Inmate Bond Rules

Coweta jail materials describe several bond types: cash bond, property bond, out-of-county property bond, and professional bond. The person posting release security is the surety, and the person released is the principal. Multiple charges can require multiple bonds. Coweta states that a non-refundable bond fee applies per bond instrument and must be paid in cash with exact change. During normal business hours, cash bonds require MoneyGram or cashier or bank checks drawn on local Coweta County banks.

After hours, MoneyGram money orders are accepted, and cash is accepted only after banks and MoneyGram are closed. Credit or debit card use adds a fee on the total bond including surcharges. Personal and business checks are not accepted. Bond details in the roster should be treated as release information, not a court finding of guilt.

Statewide Custody and Registry Checks

County jail custody is different from state prison custody. If a person has left Coweta County Jail after sentencing or transfer, the Georgia.gov Find an Offender and Georgia Department of Corrections channels may be the better statewide path. Georgia Felon Search is a criminal-history channel and should not be used as an inmate roster. Sex-offender registry checks are also separate from custody status.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation sex offender registry is a statewide registry source, not a jail roster.
